When the pregnant hammerhead was autopsy by the Mote Marine Laboratory, they found 55 shark pups, 3 which was not yet developed.It was the largest litter of pups ever found in a hammerhead shark.
The institute was grateful to have the hammerhead specimen to further their studies of the species.But was also sadden of the lost because the shark was just days away from giving birth.
